The week started with Joe Biden announcing Kamala Harris as his VP running mate, prompting the usual bickering between everyone and their racist grandparents if he made the right choice or not instead of taking time to celebrate the fact that a woman is breaking all kinds of barriers right now.

I finally had enough with a facebook acquaintance who was constantly posting ‘alternative news articles’ about how Donald Trump is #savingourchildren from liberal socialist satanist pedophiles, 5g conspiracies and anti-mask bs. Been commenting on a few posts for a while, asking questions, but decided to spam one of their posts about how Trump is totally not saving the children, with evidence to back it up. I was promptly unfriended.

Sports fans were given some bad news in that both the Pac-12 AND Big-10 college football conferences decided they will be cancelling their fall football seasons.

• Houston Astro’s fans were given some bad baseball news, not because of COVID, but because a bunch of their players got into a brawl and their coach got suspended for nearly half of the remaining baseball games. You know what they say, the best way to protect yourself from COVID is to get close to and shout at others.

Speaking of sports, San Antonio Spurs fans are a little sad that their NBA season has already, basically come to a close as it is the first time in 22 years the Spurs will not reach the playoffs.

Enjoyed the decent movie Power Project on Netflix when it came out. Jamie Foxx is a natural at playing a bad-ass.

Work is set to get a little more wild in the comings weeks as more people are stepping down or quitting. The PM training team has had a good run of no interruptions for a little bit of time now, but things look like they might be shaken up here soon.

Erika Paradise has decided to jump back on the part time babysitting game starting the next week.

As the week progressed, the screams and shouts of the rambunctious children of the neighbors who live above myself and Erika Paradise gradually increased volume to the point where their cries sounded as though they were right in our living room. While we have no idea the context of the screams and unabashed wailing, Erika and I assume that either they found out they have to go to school in person or at least the not being able to go anywhere is finally getting to them.

Texas surpassed 500,000 cases this week. Governor Abbott blames gatherings and not the fact that maybe he relaxed stay at home orders way to early which caused people to relax their guards. Meanwhile, Texas also surpassed 9,000 deaths this week.

• Five communities in South Texas now now have the highest rate of new coronavirus infections in all of the United States.

A Texas GOP chairman claimed that the recovery rate of COVID-19 in Texas is 99.9%. Hmmm, I’m no math person, but I’m pretty sure something is amiss with that number.

If numbers dispute in Texas over the last few weeks are any indication, some are beginning to question the legitimacy of the numbers in that the US government is putting out.

In some bittersweet news, a San Antonio couple married in a hospital as one half of the couple fights for their life battling the coronavirus.

As the school year drips closer in Texas, some Texas health experts are already projecting how many may arrive in school already infected with the coronavirus.

• Meanwhile, literally days after opening schools, neighboring San Antonio town Boerne (pronounced Bernie) saw it’s first few school infections. Happy first days back to school everyone!

With all the talk of mail in voting, commissioners of Bexar County (where San Antonio is located) passed a resolution encouraging the elections administrator to pursue measures to “safeguard the health of voters and election workers.” Basically, they’re encouraged to hire as many people as possible and potentially expand voting options. Hooray!

• Meanwhile, as the 45th President continues to but mail in voting on blast, Trump and the first lady both had mail-in ballots sent to them in Florida.

In some good news for San Antonio, according to Judge Nelson Wolff, “within one month almost half of hospitalizations have gone down.” Hopefully those numbers are accurate?

Speaking of numbers, some residents of San Antonio held a vigil for those hometown lives lost of COVID-19 so far.

In some more potentially good news for San Antonio, it appears as though the city of Saint Anthony is in contention to house the newly created space force home base maybe? tbh, not sure if this is something to politely clap about or try not to laugh at.

Finally, our political leaders put a whimpering exclamation point on the U.S. response to the Coronavirus this week by not only failing to reach any deal to help the constituents of America, but also thought that now was a good time to continue with that planned recess they had coming up, which lasts until September. That makes sense. Good job everyone.
